Welcome to my brand-spanking fresh-out-of-the-bandbox new blog. I'm sure you have some questions, probably more than I'll address here, but here are a few answers to get this started.
What's it going to be about?
I don't know. It's probably going to be what I would call "The World According To Emilie," which means it's probably going to have a lot of politics, some random musings about random current events, and almost certainly some more personal things. We'll find out what it's about together.
How often will it be updated?
Again - we'll find out together.
If you don't know what it's going to be, or how often you'll add to it, why are you starting it?
Well, let's see - first, I need a website for Twitter. How's that for absurd? That's only the answer for why I'm starting this today, though. This is something I've been thinking about doing for years - those of you who know me already know I've got something to say, and I've got opinions to spare. This gives me a platform to express those opinions, and maybe they're of interest to others. We'll see.
Why should I care what you think about the world?
That's a question only you can answer. I'd like to think that exposure to other people's thinking can benefit everyone, so maybe that's the answer. I know that, even when I don't agree with someone on an issue - maybe especially when I don't agree with someone on an issue - learning how they approached the topic has always helped me clarify my own thinking.
And every so often, paying attention to someone I don't agree with has changed my perspective, and my opinion.
Who are you?
I am a random redhead, with a magpie mind, always collecting shiny things - random trivia, unexpected connections, and as many joys as I can carry. I'm also a Democrat, from San Francisco, active in the California Democratic Party, and the Santa Clara County Democratic Party. Did I mention there will probably be a lot of politics?
That's your introduction. I look forward to seeing where we go from here.
